Bangkok Transportation

Bangkok is well known for its traffic congestion. However, this booming metropolis has made great strides during the last decade to help improve the Bangkok tranportation system. Bangkok's first step towards modern public transport was the opening of the long awaited Bangkok skytrain. The first phase opened on December 5, 1999 and a new era for Bangkok transportation began.

Five years later, Bangkok transportation received another boost with the opening of the underground train or Bangkok subway. This rail system intersects with the Bangkok skytrain at three points and it greatly increases the number of Bangkok destinations that can be reached without sitting in a Bangkok traffic jam.
