Suvarnabhumi, the new Bangkok International Airport

Suvarnabhumi airport opened for business in September, 2006. It is now the new international airport in Bangkok. Although the old airport, Don Muang, was closed initially; it has been re-opened to handle some of Thailand's domestic air traffic.

The grand opening of this futuristic looking airport did not happen without some aches and pains. There were some initial problems with the building, but those problems have been fixed and the airport is now fully operational.

Your first contact with Bangkok will most likely happen when you land at Suvarnabhumi airport. The long flight is now over and you exit the plane and enter the terminal building. After you navigate through immigration and customs, head to baggage claim to find your luggage. With your bags in hand, head to the arrival hall. At this point, you have several options for transportation to your hotel.
