Thai Culture

As soon as you get off the plane in Bangkok, you will notice that Thailand is not like your home country. Thai culture and western culture may have a few similarities, but there are also many differences. Please don't misunderstand me. Thailand is a fabulous place to visit and to live, but it is most likely not the same as your home country.

Thai Culture Issues

It will not take you long to realize that the pace of life in Thailand is much slower than most western countries. As a tourist, you probably plan to be in Thailand for a week or two. The slow pace here should help you relax and enjoy your holiday. Just take it easy for awhile and take in the many sights of Thailand.

Thai Culture Respects the King

Even though you are only visiting Thailand, it is very important that you do not disrespect H.R.M. King Bhumibol. Thai people absolutely adore their king and even the least bit of disrespect will not be tolerated. It is actually against the law to show public disrespect for the King of Thailand. This includes all members of the Royal Family, too.

All Thai currency has an image of the king on it. Therefore, you need to handle the money very carefully. Do not put it in your mouth, step on it with your foot or sit on it.
